6 weeks ago today we lost our dear Chris.  Hardly a moment has gone by since then that some memory or thought of Chris has not come to mind.  He was so much a part of all our lives, and I know it will continue to be that way even though he is not with us on this earth.  As his brother, each week I would like to post a picture and a memory of Chris. I know I will never forget his awesome smile and the amazing person he was.  This is just one way I can continue to honor him and remember what a great example he was to me.  Any of you are invited to do the same.  I plan on this blog being around for as long as computers and the internet are around.  If something about Chris come to mind or a special experience you think of, please feel welcome to add it to the blog. Chris would want us to keep smiling, as he always did.  I love you bro!   Willey

Remembering Chris

I met Chris during his senior year of high school. I remember the first time I saw him and the first thing he said to me; the same phrase he would say to me for several days after our first encounter. Every time he would pass by me, a scared insecure sophomore, in the hall he would say, "you're such a stud". At first I thought he was making fun of me but I soon saw his sincerity and his caring nature. We became friends. We kept in touch for several years.

The last time I saw him was at my wedding. He is an amazing, loving person who I have always looked up to, and will continue to look up to throughout my life.

My deepest condolences to his family who I didn't have the pleasure of getting to know well. May the Lord bless and comfort you with the peace that only He can provide.

From the Russon Brothers Guestbook

Shelly Dueri
Dear Family of Chris Beers,
My heart hurts for you!! What a beautiful tribute you wrote to your son, brother and friend. He was a wonderful person and I truly loved being around him. We went to the same singles ward in Bountiful before I got married. He always made me laugh; was a hit at one of our singles activities - I think it was a talent night and he entertained us with several impressions. He was truly a talented, gifted person and sure miss him!! I pray that your hearts may be healed and that you may be touched by the sweet love and peace from our Savior, Jesus Christ!!

Love,

Chris and I became great friends at a Tennessee EFY around 1997, and our friendship continued on. Despite not being in touch greatly over the years, I've always considered him amongst my best friends. It was one of my greatest pleasures for him to meet and have lunch with my parents, sister, and I.

I send my heartfelt sympathies especially to the Beers family. I send my sympathies also to the countless others who, like me, feel a never-ending sense of appreciation and love to such a great friend.

Sincerely, Jonathan Chipman

Dear Chris, words cannot express the realm of emotions I feel at the moment. On one hand, I miss you dearly. You were the beaming light of my life always encouraging me to be more loving and compassionate. On the other hand, I'm happy that you were able to move on away from the "pains" of this world. You were ah-ah AMAZING! I feel honored to have spoken with so many people who were touched by you. Without you, I don't think I'll ever be the same, but I know you'll be watching and guiding me from above just as you did down here on this Earth. It's nothing short of a miracle that we met and I hope that you and Jade will welcome me with open arms when the time comes to make my journey back home. I knew you better than anyone else and have seen the impact you have had on people and am thankful everyday for the cherished memories we had together. Take care My Boy!

Chris was our neighbor during the past few years, and he became our dear friend. We are reclusive by nature, but it was impossible not to become acquainted with Chris. His infectious smile made it so natural to be his friend. We came to love both Chris and Ian. We shared a common love for cats with Chris, among other things. Chris was not simply a good neighbor, he was a good friend and he will be sorely missed. Our tears now wash the footprints where Chris once walked, but we are reminded that the cracks in a broken hearts is where the sun shines through. Chris would understand that.

I worked with Chris at the Church Office Building for several years. He was so accepting of everyone and was a joy to be around. His fun-loving attitude, smile, and humor were contagious. He was extremely talented and had an eye for the beautiful. He framed several pictures in my home. Now, they will be all the more special to me. When I see them, I will lovingly remember him and the great person he is. May his family take comfort in the exceptional life he led and the numerous lives he touched. He will always stand as an example of Christ-like love and compassion. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

From the Deseret News Guestbook:

March 30, 2012
To the Beers Family,

I was both shocked and saddened to read of the untimely passing of Chris. I first met him at the LDS Church Office Building in 1989 when I would pass his counter on my way to the 14th floor lunchroom. I noticed a rare plant behind his desk, named the "lipstick" plant (when blooming, resembles a tube of lipstick swiveled upwards) which I fell in love with. He let me tend the plant for him while his area changed locations, but I soon made sure I had one of my own, even bought one for my home.
Chris was so nice and friendly and had that gorgeous flashing smile for everyone. He was always so well groomed and dressed impeckably everytime you saw him. Even though we worked in different departments, we passed in hallways and the cafeteria. What a great guy he was, I am almost twice his age and recognize his many sterling qualities. You must be so proud of Chris, his life and the way he conducted himself. Blessings to all of his wonderful family.

Dear Brother and Sister Beers,

I am so sorry for the passing of your son. Although I do not remember meeting him when we lived in WX 4th Ward for a short time in 1999 to 2000, he sounds like a wonderful and caring friend and son. I remember what wonderful and kind people you were. My heart goes out to you and your family. May the Lord bless you all with comfort, peace, and strength.

I first met Chris about 22 years ago when the two of us worked together in Exploring. We had a great time planning events and training other Explorer Scouts on how to be successful leaders. We became immediate friends. We took that friendship beyond Scouting and spent a lot of time together.

I count Chris as one of my dearest and most sincere friends. He was like a brother to me and my siblings and another son to my parents.

When I heard of the passing of Chris this week, I couldn't help but become emotional. I valued his friendship, his example of service, his love of all men, and his testimony of Jesus Christ.

I'm thankful to my "little buddy" for all that he did to help me be a better person. Our family will miss Chris. Our thoughts are with the Beers family during this difficult time. May the Lord bless you.

Chris is absolutely amazing. I remember the first time I met him and his huge smile and warm greeting. I was fortunate to work with him at EFY and saw him touch the lives of many people, including my own. What a wonderful person he is and I am so grateful to have known him. The hymn that keeps coming to my mind as I think about Chris is hymn 293, "Each Life That Touches Ours for Good". Chris definitely helped me feel of the love of the Savior and brought me closer to him.

It's 11am Saturday 24th March 2011, here in my beautiful City of Exeter,Devon,England. The sun pours it's warmth down on us,just like Chris poured his warm love over us,through that beautiful beaming smile of his.As i walk towards the Cathedral, suddenly, the air is alive, the Exeter Musical Society bursts into songs from The Sound of Music.."Hoe Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria",with that line which so suited Chris..."How do you hold a monnbeam in your hand"....followed by "Climb Ev'ry Mountain......Til You Find Your Dream"...Chris you have now climbed your final mountain, and ascended to Heaven, and are smiling down on us today, and for evermore...God Bless, til we meet again!

We were shocked to hear of Chris' passing and want to extend our deepest condolences to his family. I had the opportunity of getting to know and love Chris when we worked together in Exploring at the training courses at the Teton High Adventure Base in the early '90's.
My wife and I, along with our sons Bryan and Spencer and daughter Melissa became good friends and came to love Chris a great deal. He was always happy and willing to serve others. He visited our home often and was always welcome.

Wayne, Uta and the Beers family,
We are so sorry to read of the passing of your son, brother, and grandson. Chris is a little older than the Kieffer kids but was always so kind to Ken Jr while on hunting trips. We truly love the Beers family even though it has been years since we have lived in the same ward.

I'm not able to express in words the heartache I feel knowing that my good friend and example has passed away. Chris was the leader of the guys that grew up on 550 West. We all looked to him as a perfect friend, always having a positive influence and helping us to become better individuals. I have never know anyone to have as many friends as Chris has. He had a gift to make everyone he came in contact with feel important and loved. His influence will be felt forever. The memory of Chris will live on to help all of us strive to become kinder and more like Christ.

May the countless thoughts and prayers for the Beers family be comforting during this time of sadness. We will miss Chris' smiling face and energetic personality, but we will feel his spirit as it lives on and we will see him again after this life.

Chris Beers

As I was listening to General Conference thoughts of Chris came to my mind and I was prompted to write this short note to you that loved him most.
I was inexplicably drawn to Chris's service. He was a good kid but I did not know him very well. In all honesty I came more to support Carry and still even though I went with Carry to Senior Ball I do not know him extremely well either. The service was beautiful and touching and left me wishing I had gotten to know Chris better and with the determination to be more like him. During the service it was mentioned that Chris studied with passion the life of the Prophet Joseph Smith and was told to pattern his life after Josephs. This is what I thought of during Conference and then the reason for changing all my Sat. plans and driving for and hour so I could be at the service was clear. Chris needed a representative of Joseph Smith's lineage to bear witness of the wonderful and amazing man Chris is and the struggle he was faced with during his lifetime. I've never felt like this before and possibly never will again but I want you to know that someone from Joseph Smiths lineage was there that day. Joseph was my 4th great uncle, Hyrum Smith was my 4th great grandfather through his first wife Jerusha and daughter Lovina.
I feel privileged to have been able to rub shoulders with such an amazing person even for such a short time.

Rebecca Reese Telford
