An Olympian

With the opening ceremonies for the London 2012 Olympics just the other day it caused me to remember the role Chris played in the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics.  Chris was a volunteer for the Paralympic games.  As a volunteer, he spent many hours at several different venues. I remember him wearing his Olympic coat for several winters following 2002. If volunteering was an Olympic event, Chris would of definitely got the gold.

I remember came to see me at work one Saturday morning during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.  I asked him why he was so tired.  He responded that he had been up all night watching different events. Chris loved to watch and cheer on the US athletes.

Chris always went for the gold in whatever he did!

Unique Birthday Cards

Many friends and family members have told me how they miss the birthday cards Chris used to send.  I know I felt a void on my birthday knowing there would not be a card or call from Chris. It didn't matter if it was a birthday, anniversary, Christmas, or any other important event, Chris always sent a card.  Thoughtfulness and attention to what made a person feel special was just one of the many gifts Chris possessed.

Let Freedom Ring!!!!!

Anyone who knew Chris, knew that he loved America . He was proud to be an American.  He loved getting involved and following presidential politics. The upcoming presidential election will not be the same without having Chris as a sounding board for my political thoughts.

I remember him wearing these American flag parachute pants when he was in high school.  They looked a little crazy, but Chris didn't care, he was proud of what they represented. One of the first framed pictures he ever did was of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. I remember it hanging on the wall of our bedroom for many years. Many other patriotic pictures followed. So tonight Chris, I'll light a firework in your memory. America the beautiful.

Pure Love for all! That is how I would describe Chris. This picture is a perfect example of this. This picture was taken shortly after he got Cheetah. It shows how much he loved Cheetah and all of God's creations.

It has truly been a challenging 3 months since Chris passed away for all of those who loved him. He had such a way of making you feel loved and that you were very important to him. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about Chris & wish to receive one of his amazing hugs & to tell him that I love him. What a wonderful brother he was to me and an amazing Uncle he was to my children. He is still thought about & prayed for everyday in our home. We know that he is progressing & finding that love & joy that he so willingly gave to all those he met here on this earth. I know he is being surrounded by many loved ones who are giving him the love and support he needs at this time. I have no doubt that his big brother Jeff was there to greet him and and they had an amazing reunion. I have challenged myself that each day of my life I will try to be more like Chris & be more Christlike to all. To try to lift anothers burden and make a difference in the lives of family as well as those many who are strangers to me that may just need to know that someone does care about them. Chris truly was blessed with this Christlike gift and all those who knew him felt of his continuous love and concern he had for them.

In memory and honor of Chris I challenge everyone each day to be a little more kinder to each other. Little acts of kindness can bring about Big miracles!

I love you forever Chris & very grateful for your Christlike love you always gave to me.
